StreamSync Privacy Policy

StreamSync ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Please read it carefully before using the app.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use StreamSync:

Account Information. Your email address and encrypted password when you create an account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only your email and display name from those providers — we never receive or store your social account passwords.

Watch History. Episode-level viewing data synced from your connected streaming services (e.g. Netflix, Hulu, Disney+). This includes show titles, episode numbers, and approximate watch dates. We do not have access to your streaming service passwords or payment information.

Usage Data. How you interact with the StreamSync app — which screens you visit, which features you use, and in-app actions. This data is collected in aggregate and used to improve the product.

Device Information. Basic device identifiers and operating system version, used to deliver push notifications and maintain session security.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data exclusively to operate and improve StreamSync:

• Power your dashboard — watch summaries, viewing velocity, binge recommendations, and subscription cost analysis.
• Smart reminders — notify you when shows return, billing dates approach, or you have been inactive on a subscription.
• Service optimisation — recommend which streaming services to keep or rotate based on your actual viewing habits.
• Product improvement — analyse aggregate usage patterns to improve existing features and build new ones.
• Customer support — respond to inquiries and resolve account issues.

We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following trusted service providers, and only to the extent necessary:

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure hosted in the United States.
• Stripe — payment processing for StreamSync Premium subscriptions. Stripe stores your payment card details; StreamSync never sees or stores card numbers.
• Apple / Google — if you use social sign-in, those providers process authentication. Review their privacy policies for details.
• Analytics — aggregate, anonymised usage metrics may be processed by analytics providers. Raw personal data is never shared.

We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect StreamSync's legal rights.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and watch history data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. payment records for tax purposes, which are retained for 7 years).

Anonymised, aggregated analytics data that cannot be linked back to you may be retained indefinitely.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated data.
• Portability — request an export of your watch history data in a machine-readable format.
• Opt-out of notifications — manage push notification preferences in Settings → Reminders at any time.

6. Security

• All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
• Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms — we cannot read your password.
• We connect to streaming services using OAuth read-only tokens. We never store your streaming passwords.
• Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel and audited.

No system is perfectly secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

7. Children's Privacy

StreamSync is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us at privacy@streamsynch.com and we will promptly delete the account.

8. Third-Party Services

StreamSync connects to third-party streaming platforms to import your watch history. These services have their own privacy policies. Connecting a service means you authorise StreamSync to read (not write or control) your viewing history on that platform. You can revoke access at any time from Settings → Connected Services.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notice or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of StreamSync after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
